Week 1: Northern Vietnam
Day 1-3: Hanoi
Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi, explore the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, and Ngoc Son Temple.
Day 2: Visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of Literature, and Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
Day 3: Take a day trip to the Perfume Pagoda or Bat Trang Ceramic Village.
(I highly recommend the Hai Giang loop if you have some extra time)
Day 4-6: Sapa
Day 4: Travel to Sapa by overnight train or bus.
Day 5: Trek through rice terraces, visit Cat Cat Village, and experience local Hmong culture.
Day 6: Visit Fansipan Mountain or explore the Muong Hoa Valley.
Day 7-8: Ninh Binh
Day 7: Travel to Ninh Binh, explore Trang An Grottoes or Tam Coc.
Day 8: Visit Bai Dinh Pagoda and Cuc Phuong National Park.
Day 9-10: Halong Bay
Day 9: Travel to Halong Bay, embark on an overnight cruise.
Day 10: Continue exploring Halong Bay, visit caves and islands, return to Hanoi.
Week 2: Central Vietnam
Day 11-12: Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park
Day 11: Travel to Dong Hoi, then to Phong Nha. Explore Phong Nha Cave.
Day 12: Visit Paradise Cave and Dark Cave.
Day 13-15: Hue
Day 13: Travel to Hue, visit the Imperial City and Forbidden Purple City.
Day 14: Visit Thien Mu Pagoda, take a Perfume River boat ride.
Day 15: Explore the tombs of Emperor Khai Dinh and Emperor Tu Duc.
Day 16-20: Hoi An
